The better half, new for 2010. The first ever Women’s only half marathon series to be completed as a indervidual or as relay team of 3. Women’s Running Network are to providing 3 venues nationwide all 100% traffic free. The emphases of the half marathons is about completing the distance rather than competing! These events are open to all abilities and all women are encouraged to take part and join the race! The series is linked with Breast Cancer Campaign and Ovarian Cancer Action. As part of the entry process you will be able to raise money for these charities with your own fund raising page.

TerrainAll the venues have been chosen for their inspiring surroundings. Mixture’s of smooth tarmac roads, paths and tracks through open woodlands. Each course is made up of 3 laps. Castle Combe race circuit is the flattest of the 3 courses, Oulton Park provides some challenging undulations on the race circuit and Pippingford Park finishes the series in a very picturesque country park complete with deer, manor house and lakes!
FacilitiesOne month before each event full venue and race details will be emailed to all competitors. Race details will also be shown on the WRN website
At each venue the Women’s half marathons will offer:
Free race T-shirt and Goody bag to all individual competitors
Large registration area (race number and timing chip to be collected at the event)

Electronic chip timing with lap splits and large screen results display

All events held under UKA rules and UKA licence applied number for
Team/RelayEnter a relay team of 3 and complete one lap each of just over 4 miles. All 3 teams members receive a goody bag and a Relay team T-shirt each. Select ‘Relay team of 3’ when choosing your venue.

CategoriesMinium age is 17 years of age on the day of the event for individual entries
Minium age for the relay team is 15 on the day of the event

SpectatorsSpectators will be well catered for in all 3 venues. Each course is made up of 3 laps so there is plenty of opportunity to support your runner. Event catering and large covered areas (in case of bad weatehr) all make for these to be spectator friendly events!
Other DetailsEvents refund policy 2010: Any event entry or accommodation cancelation received by email to events@votwo.co.uk more than 14 days prior to the event date will receive a 50% refund or transfer of entry fee towards another votwo event (£10 transfer fee applies). Only emailed cancelations to events@votwo.co.uk are acceptable. Cancelations made in the last 14 days before the event start date will not be eligible for any refund or transfer. In the highly unlikely case that an event is cancelled at short notice (less then 30 days) due to unforeseen circumstances (e.g. extreme weather, Foot and Mouth or similar) the event will be re-scheduled for the next available date and event entry fees carried over to that date. Accommodation fees will not be refunded if the event is re-scheduled at short notice (less then 30 days). If access to published course is restricted for any reason a alternative route will be used.
Pauline's CommentsIt has been one of the dreams of the Women’s Running Network to hold a series of half marathons just for women. We are very happy we are finally achieving this. Every emphasis is on helping women achieve this tremendous goal of completing a half marathon. Watch out for the full marathon distance event in 2011.....
