| Terrain | Day 1: Dale - Newgale. The flatter and kinder day on the legs. The comfortable wandering coast path passes the point where Henry Tudor landed 4000 men and marched to victory at the Battle of Bosworth (possibly a new event idea for 2010...).
Day 2: Newgale - Porthgain. The fun really starts on this stretch of coast, remote and inspiring. The foot path becomes rocky and requires concentration to stay upright.
Day 3: Porthgain - Pwllgwaelod. Remoter and even more inspiring then day 2! Cliffs, steep drops and tough running are to be expected on the last day. The route passes the beautiful little Welsh town of Fishguard before the last 10km to the finish. |
| Facilities | Daily briefings on the route ahead, weather and other important points.
Checkpoints approximately every 10km. These will supply food and hot drinks. Checkpoints are in place to ensure that everyone is on the route and for time keeping. For those needing it they offer the perfect opportunity to have a good sit down.
Transportation: Once you get to the event HQ at St Davids, Votwo looks after all your transportation. Climb aboard the Votwo mini buses every morning to be taken to the start point then board them again at end of the day to be taken back to HQ.
Event Medic. The medic will be around to strap feet up in the morning, first aid assistance and course evacuation for any entrant requiring this.
Last man sweeper. A votwo runner will follow at the rear of the group looking out for any broken runners.
Individual times: at each check point your number will be taken then after the event time sheets will be available.
On Friday night, Saturday night and Sunday afternoon votwo masseurs will be providing a massage service located at the event HQ. It will cost £10 for 15 mins. If you are interested in this service (and it may help you to get out of bed the next day) please express this on your entry form.
For Goodness Shakes are sponsoring the event and will be there supplying their free sports recovery shakes.
Votwo are also offering the chance to sign up to a free online elog based training programme when you enter the challenge. This is a two tier, 10 week long training schedule to get you fit for the challenge.
A photographer will be on route every day and photos will be available online after the event.
On Saturday Night there will be a BBQ at the HQ. Tickets are £10 a head. The BBQ is free if you are taking up the exclusive votwo accommodation offer. |
