Lactate threshold analysis

Lactate levels in the blood are measured at varying intensity levels to indicate when the body starts to rely more and more heavily on anaerobic metabolism. This is especially interesting for endurance athletes whose performance is highly correlated to LT. The lactate response to exercise has been shown to be a very sensitive indicator of performance in many endurance events and the profile of an individual's lactate curve can be dramatically improved with correct training. Monitoring lactate curves can help to identify optimal training effort measured by pace, power output or heart rate and for that reason is a very common procedure in the votwo lab. Nearly all votwo coached athletes have their training intensities set via this method which has proven to be both popular and successful.
